SUMMER FIELD TRIPS

GUIDED SUMMER FARM TOURS

Explore the farm with our farm teachers who can help you pick vegetables to taste, get out animals for you to pet, and share information about how this farm grows food!

Registration for 2024 Summer Farm Tours is now open!

We offer guided, hands-on farm tours from 10 AM to Noon weekdays during the summer months and by appointment during the year. Tours are designed for groups of up to 30 participants (plus teachers and chaperones). If you would like to extend your visit, we offer picnic tables for lunch after the program or you can take an unguided hike on our beautiful tree-lined trails up to our overlook of Hamilton County.

Participants in a Summer Field Trip will be led by a Gorman Heritage Farm Educator in activities including planting a seed, tasting a vegetable, grinding corn, feeding chickens, interacting with our farm animals, exploring the history of the farm, learning about the food we produce, and experiencing the joys of agricultural living while taking in the beauty of the farm.

If you have any questions about summer field trips, send an email to education@gormanfarm.org or call at 513.399.9760.

SELF-GUIDED FARM TOURS

Explore the farm on your own without the assistance of a farm teacher. You can look at what we grow in our gardens and visit the barnyard where our animals live! We will provide a map for you to navigate and learn about the farm. Because a farm teacher will not be present, please follow our farm visitor rules by not picking plants or feeding animals.

Self-Guided tours allow you to explore the farm at your own pace and according to your own interests.

Due to the limited space in our garden and farmyard, we require that self-led tour groups reserve a time to visit the farm and come with no more than 40 participants. We run our own educational programs here at the farm like Summer Camp and our Guided Summer Farm Tours; your compliance with these rules helps everyone to have an enjoyable time on the farm!

The cost of admission to the farm is $8 per adult and $5 per child age 3 and up. This payment must be made in our Interpretive Center before your self-guided tour and must be paid in one lump sum for your group. We take card, cash, and checks!

To reserve a time for a self-guided tour, please email education@gormanfarm.org

FAQs

We have two tiers of pricing to reflect the number of groups your participants will be divided into.  The following prices are due at the time of registration to reserve your date.  There will be no changes or money accepted on the day of the program.

  • 1-15 participants (not including chaperones) – one group – $120
  • 16-30 participants (not including chaperones) – two groups – $200

If you registered for 1-15 participants, but find you will have more than 15 participants on the day of the program, please contact us no later than one week in before your program to increase the capacity of your program and pay the additional $80. This allows us time to secure extra staffing.

If you have registered for 16-30 participants but now find yourself with fewer than 16 total, please let us know no later than 5 days in advance of your program to receive a refund of the $80 fee and to allow us time to notify our staff of the change.

If you find yourself with greater than 30 participants, know that we may not be able to accommodate this change. To see about accommodations, please reach out no later than one week in advance of your program.

No changes will be allowed on the day of the event.

You may schedule more than one program date to accommodate numbers greater than 30. We are unable to accommodate more than 30 participants on one day.

Please contact us as soon as possible via phone or email to bring up your concerns. We will consider changes in tiered fees due to COVID-19 related issues on a case-by-case basis.

Summer Farm Tours are for adults and children alike. We welcome camps, childcare centers, and summer programs with children ages 4-12, but all ages are welcome for this guided tour through our gardens and farmyard. Summer Farm Tours are a fun team-building experience for corporate groups!

  • Visitors should wear appropriate and close-toed shoes to walk the farm: old tennis shoes or boots. We ask that children not wear flip-flops or open-toed shoes.

  • Participants should prepare to be divided into two groups of approximately 15. Camps and summer programs may have 15 children plus teachers and chaperones.

  • We ask that all children, teachers, and chaperones wear nametags prominently at all times.

  • We encourage participants to bring their own water bottles, particularly on very hot days! We have a refilling station in our Interpretive Center.

Refunds are possible no later than 1 month in advance of the scheduled program.  Our programs run rain or shine.  If we cancel your program due to severe weather, we will attempt to reschedule a date convenient to both parties.   If you cancel your field trip fewer than thirty days in advance, we cannot guarantee a refund.

5 days before your event, we will contact you for your final group size .  If your participant number is going to be greater or less than your original amount registered, we will reconcile any balance due or refunds owed 5 days before the event.  No changes will be allowed on the day of the event.

If possible, deposits are transferrable to another date based on availability.
