INTRODUCTION TO SUSTAINABLE HOME FOOD PRODUCTION

Grow your garden knowledge this spring as we learn about different gardening techniques and walk through the garden with an expert!

Sunday, February 2nd 1:00pm-3:00pm

$30 non-members; $25 members

Have you ever considered growing your own food but lack a green thumb? Do you have dreams of suburban homesteading but don’t know where to start? Join Jason Kamp, our market gardener, as he shares his knowledge of home food production in an indoor talk, and provides a guided tour of our very own raised beds, hoop house, and market garden.

Great for beginners, this class will cover the following:

  • Building raised beds
  • Creating healthy soil and site preparation (using yard waste you already have!)
  • When to plant which vegetables and how: planning your garden, timing, direct seeding vs. starts, crop selection, spacing, etc.
  • What questions to consider when building a garden.
  • Garden tools, weed management, cover cropping, and more!

This informative class will also provide take home resources to help you grow your own healthy food right in your own backyard!
