The key to efficient, sustainable food and flower production, both for the professional and backyard grower alike, is healthy soil!

- Soil science basics for home gardeners. Organic material to the rescue!
- Build or import soil? Options for backyard production.
- “No-till” and “low-till” methods of soil management, including: cover crops, green manure, silage tarp, deep mulch, and living mulch.
- Tools, tips, and techniques: backyard methods at a market scale.
- Interactive demonstration and guided practice using bed preparation tools to create “perma beds”
This informative class will also provide take home digital resources, free seeds, and your own bag of “black gold” – aged leaf mold to help you grow your own healthy food right in your own backyard!
