Chris DeRhodes
With a professional background in social work and child and family therapy, Chris brings a thoughtful, systems-based lens to everything he does. But his true passion lives in the landscape.
Chris specializes in native plants and ecological restoration. On his own family’s acreage, he has spent years restoring habitat for wildlife, growing native trees and perennials, and sharing those plants with others in the community. At Gorman, he has led and supported significant restoration efforts — including invasive species removal and long-term habitat improvement projects in areas like the upper meadow and pond.
His work has dramatically improved biodiversity and land health on the property. Whether he’s identifying a native sedge, planning a restoration strategy, or mentoring volunteers in the field, Chris is a steady and knowledgeable guide.
A longtime member, donor, former volunteer, and current member of the Land Use Committee, Chris embodies what community stewardship looks like in action.
