Jason Kamp

Director of Garden Programs
In a world beset by existential slings and arrows, Jason believes the food crisis is the single biggest challenge of our generation. He believes the solution starts with educating people on where their food comes from and promoting local, sustainable food systems. After 10 years as a high school English teacher and coach, Jason, heeding his own constant admonition to students “to be problem-solvers,” made the difficult decision to change careers and get on the front lines of this important issue. He is honored to live out this mission as part of the Gorman team, among such talented and like-minded people.

Born and raised in Cincinnati, Jason grew up not far from the farm but only visited for the first time in June of 2018 on a field trip with his Fruit and Nut Production class from Cincinnati State. Jason was struck by the idyllic setting and attracted to the educational focus of the farm; he immediately felt at home. Not long after, Jason started volunteering in between work and school, and he hasn’t left since. In January 2019, Jason was hired as a full time staff member. Currently, Jason works as the Garden Assistant and his primary responsibility is growing vegetables for the Farm’s CSA program. He also teaches gardening classes in the off-season.

Jason has a bachelor’s degree in English Literature from Miami University, a Master’s degree in Secondary Education from Xavier University, and a certificate in Sustainable Agriculture Management from Cincinnati State. Jason enjoys being outside and spending time with friends and family, especially his wife Sarah.
