Scout Programs

Bring your scout group to learn about where your food comes from, caring for animals, or healthy eating.

Gorman Heritage Farm can help boy and girls scouts meet their nature and outdoor badge requirements!  Our programs are led by farm educators and are open to individual scouts or groups.

What days and times are available?
Programs run 1 ¾ hours
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - 3:30 - 5:30
Saturday - 10:00 - 12:00 or 1:00 - 3:00
We require groups schedule programs 2 weeks in advance

How much does it cost?
$7/scout, $7/chaperone, Troop Leaders are free of charge, $75 minimum per program

What programs do we offer?
You may want to work on a badge, award, elective, achievement or journey requirement, or you may just want a general tour. General tours can include exploring gardens, grinding corn, feeding hens, hiking, and visiting farmyard animals.

Do programs happen rain or shine?
All of our programs will be held rain or shine unless there is thunder and lightning. Each program takes place both indoors and out and  includes a visit to the Farmyard to meet our lovely farm animals.

What does the program fee include?
The program fee covers one scout or chaperone and all supplies. Scout troop leaders are free of charge. Fees also include admission to Gorman Heritage Farm for the day.

Who needs to pay the program fee?
Every child and chaperone needs to pay the program fee, including siblings (age 4 and up). There is not a discount for Gorman Heritage Farm members.

Do I have to attend the program with my scout or troop?
Scout programs at Gorman Heritage Farm are designed for children to attend with a chaperone or scout leader. We ask for one leader or chaperone for every 6 children. Parents who drop children off to attend with their troop leader may choose to wait in the Interpretive Center or walk around the Farm during the program.

Does Gorman Heritage Farm provide badges or pins?
No. The Farm does not provide the badges for completing a program. Leaders are welcome to bring badges for their troop to hand out after the program.

Where is the Farm?
Gorman Heritage Farm is located at:
10052 Reading Road
Evendale, OH 10052

What do we do when we arrive at the Farm?
We ask that you arrive 10 minutes prior to your scheduled program. Please inform the person at the front desk that you are here for a pre-paid scout program. There is free parking in the main lot. Unless otherwise noted, programs meet just outside the front doors of the Interpretive Center. If you arrive late, please ask the front desk attendant to help you meet up with your program already in progress.

Do I need to provide names of individuals participating in the program?
No. We do not require names for program participants at the time of registration. To register for a scout program we will need to know the number of scouts, siblings and adult chaperones attending the program.
