Jessica Starr

Program Coordinator at Gorman Heritage Farm

Jessica grew up in Lexington, Ky and from the start had a passion for the outdoors. Camping and hiking at an early age Jessica became aware of the importance of educating others about nature, agriculture, and sustainable living. After an injury in college left her temporarily unable to do many of the outdoor activities she loved, she found yoga. As she began to feel the transformation yoga had in her life, physically and mentally she felt inspired to strengthen her practice and eventually to share the gift of yoga with others. She regained all of her strength, physically and mentally and after a short time was back to her normal activities. Jessica then spent the next 12 years working in wellness and human resources.

Once again called to educate others on agriculture and sustainable living she left her corporate career and created Yogi and the Farmer an urban farming and community wellness initiative located in Covington, KY. Through this initiative Jessica worked passionately to connect people to the source of their nourishment—their breath and food.  Jessica believes the mind, body, food connection is a sacred one, and works passionately to assist others on this body and food connection.  In the Fall of 2016, Jessica and her husband Aaron opened Rooted Yoga in Covington, KY. Jessica teaches a variety of classes at the Rooted Yoga studio and at fitness centers, corporate locations, and other special event collaborations. She is very excited to be part of the Gorman family and looks forward to bringing mindful programming to the community.
